What is the Fashion?

The fashion for women this year seems to be the same for all girls of all ages, for it finally seems that the lament “There aren’t any nice clothes for older women” is becoming a thing of the past as more and more designers are bearing this in mind. Women still want to look stylish no matter how old they are, and realise that once they reach a certain age it’s not all chunky cardigans and out of shape jeans!

How to achieve your look

The key to looking fashionable and fun this year is in the choice of colours- big, bold, and bright, and perhaps large prints such as floral or spots to keep one’s mind busy! People are finding that more mature-aged women look just as fantastic in a hot-pink waterfall style cardigan as a 20 year old would, and perhaps a pair of long khaki coloured shorts cut to flatter any body shape, mixed with a long tunic to cover the belly area and then teamed with jewelled sandals- again, all pieces of clothing that looks amazing and fashionable on all woman of all ages.

What clothes to wear?

An absolute must-have for all seasons is a white blouse, which goes well with just about everything from smart work-style trousers to denim shorts or khaki trousers. More must-haves include at least one jacket- again, can be worn smart or casual and is always a summer essential due to the unpredictable British weather. A comfy, relaxed pair of trousers which can be worn at all times, dressed up with a shirt/blouse with a sweet silk scarf, or dressed down with a t-shirt (colourful, of course). Another item that can truly make an outfit trendy is the use of accessories: chunky jewellery, cute sandals, hair accessories, and of course a stylish handbag, keeping them sweet and simple or big and really gorgeous depending on the outfit being worn.

Accentuating your look

Despite the fact that many women of different ages are wearing the same clothes, there are still certain items which really should be left to those still in their 20s to wear- mini-skirts and mid-length boots for example, and always one golden rule to remember: Don’t wear big, baggy clothes! So many people believe that wearing baggy clothes makes them look slimmer and hides all their ‘flabby areas ’. But this is not true- it simply makes them look bigger rather than slimmer, makes them look older than their years, and for some, frankly, does make them look like they are wearing a blanket! To be seen as stylish during these modern days, people must try to be brave and really have a go at accentuating their positives- whether it’s a great bust, curvy waist, gorgeous long legs or even stunning hair! An example of this could be a kimono-style top; slightly oversized for comfort, but with a clinched waist to create feminine curves , or a long tunic-dress in bright colour(s) which helps to minimise weight and with simple, flowing lines can really flatter the figure, teamed up with light coloured leggings (long tops over leggings hide yet accentuate your bottom!).

Shoes?

Another item of clothing which women of all ages truly love- shoes! For those who simply must wear flats absolutely all of the time, they should go for either a pair of ankle boots- preferably black to keep them able to match all items of clothing, and also ballet pumps- perhaps one of the biggest fashion items seen in ages as almost every woman owns at least one pair, and they come in great designs- fruit patterns, stars and hearts, and even sparkly for the evening, but the more plain ones (even black and grey) still look fantastic and the best thing about ballet pumps is that you can wear them with any outfit!
